Martin’s week 45 at the Digital Service included a public holiday: International Women’s Day. For that occasion, the design and comms team contributed to a Women Who Code meetup. Otherwise, Martin looked into team diversity data collection and spent time with community activity planning.

In his 44th week at the Digital Service, Martin networked with students, discussed design seniority levels and opened new roles.

In Martin’s 43rd week at the DigitalService, he co-presented in an international call about working in the open. Otherwise, the work was rather inward-facing, with many design management tasks.

Week 42 included some training units – on accessibility and service design. Martin also attended a community kick-off for a new public sector design system.

In week 41, students from the Netherlands visited the design team at DigitalService, and Martin spent time shaping quarterly objectives.

In week 40 at Digital Service, Martin rewrote how design as an area of work and discipline is represented – through slides, principles and a new page on the web.

Martin worked remotely in his 39th week at DigitalService. He caught up with former colleagues on international work, operational frameworks for service assurance and service performance tracking. He also worked on iterating formats for the growing design team.

Martin followed up with some engaged readers of last week’s blog post, published another article and got deeper into OKRs for the coming quarter in his 38th week at the Digital Service.

In week 37, Martin published another co-authored blog post about design, focussing on visual culture and artefacts supporting digital transformation. He also looked at fundamentals like objective setting, design skill descriptions and making more exclusive meetings less opaque.

In his first week at Digital Service in 2023, Martin helped run accessibility training, translated an accessibility poster and edited the design skill definitions.
