Martin met with various government and public sector colleagues in his week 90 at Digital Service. He visited ministries, the Federal Chancellery and had an exchange with colleagues developing other public sector design systems. He also progressed on his accessibility agenda and gave a related update in the weekly all-hands.

In his first whole week of the year, Martin co-ran a workshop that brought together the Service Standard and digital check for digital-ready legislation. He also participated in a Berlin design roundtable organised by the city-state and its economic growth unit.

Week 88 at Digital Service was Martin’s first week of the new year. He did some Service Standard stocktake, started preparing a related workshop and met to plan a service naming process.

In the last week of 2023 and his week 87 at the DigitalService, Martin reflects on the year with a ‘Data of 2023’ poster in front of him.

Martin did not work in his week 86 at Digital Service. Instead, he skied. On the way, he edited and published some videos from an autumn conference that had piled up.

Wrapping up work for 2023 early, Martin co-ran a Lunch and Learn session on ‘why we’ll never start with the right thing’ in his week 85 at Digital Service. He also co-delivered an accessibility update and outlook for 2024.

Week 84 at Digital Service has been dense for Martin. He co-ran a community meetup on clear language, co-delivered a webinar on following the Service Standard, and co-facilitated his discipline’s Christmas get-together. The latter included a gingerbread house competition. Martin also spent significant time with justice services work.

Martin helped prepare the 4th local public sector innovation meetup on reshaping urban mobility. He continued with staffing, hiring and recruitment duties. Together with his UK government colleagues, he made progress on preparing for the big 24-hour remote conference next week. He also prioritised accessibility activities in his 82nd week at Digital Service.

Martin travelled across Germany in his week 81 at Digital Service. He attended the autumn conference of the community of practice network NExT in Wiesbaden to present his design community and give a talk. Afterwards, he co-ran the Public Service Lab Day, a conference in Cologne, together with the city’s innovation office.

After recovering from another round of COVID, Martin was able to attend his colleague Charlotte’s TEDx talk in Potsdam. He also worked on new user-centred design roles and scalable accessibility training and various upcoming community events in his week 79 at Digital Service.
