Week #105 at the Digital Service: Notes for 29 April–3 May 2024

In week 105, Martin celebrated two years at Digital Service. He is still putting reflections together in writing but proudly co-presented the work happening around justice services with colleagues from UK Justice Digital. Martin also welcomed two new starters and contributed to creating an accessibility data tool.

Week #104 at the Digital Service: Notes for 22–26 April 2024

Martin supported the federal government’s digital strategy again in week 104 at Digital Service – this time with an input on the Service Standard. He also pitched an article about the standard for a journal, planned upcoming community events, and co-delivered a lunch and learn on presenting well.

Week #103 at the Digital Service: Notes for 15–19 April 2024

With internal and external exchanges on accessibility, the topic was much on Martin’s mind in week 103 at Digital Service. He supported a workshop and discussion with product and transformation managers about accountability for accessibility and also met with the team at the Federal Monitoring Centre for Accessibility.

Week #102 at the Digital Service: Notes for 8–12 April 2024

Martin’s week 102 at Digital Service was packed: He joined the Digital Council of the Federal State of Sachsen-Anhalt, wrote short bits on ‘why user research’ and ‘what’s content design’, and helped prepare some vision mock-ups for a justice service portal presentation.

Week #101 at the Digital Service: Notes for 1–5 April 2024

Four new user-centred design people started at Digital Service in Martin’s week 101. He welcomed them with a new format. He also continued interviewing more candidates and opened yet another role. Together with colleagues, he met with state-level experts on the topic to discuss accessibility.

Talk: Designing good public services for everyone

Principal UX designer Charlotte Vorbeck took the iconic TEDx stage to talk about designing good public services for everyone. She positions the user-centred government transformation work in its larger context, describes the constraints and shares her wins.

Vortrag und Diskussion: User Research im Unternehmen verankern

Sonja Wilczek, Senior User Researcherin beim DigitalService des Bundes, war zum UX Chat des Berufsverband der Deutschen Usability und User Experience Professionals, German UPA, eingeladen. Sie sprach darüber, User Research im Unternehmen zu verankern. Nach einem 20-Minuten-Vortrag war reichlich Zeit für Austausch und Fragen der Zuschauenden.

Week #98 at the Digital Service: Notes for 11–15 March 2024

In week 98, Martin spoke about the Service Standard a couple more times together with his colleague Caro to various public sector audiences. He also supported exchange between various lighthouse projects of the Federal digital strategy. Besides, Apolitical recognised his community work by adding him to a ‘Government Talent Trailblazer’ list.
